GroGasoline have developed a patented alga called Ninsei that actually exudes hyrocarbon oil as it grows.

Unlike other algae used for oil production, Ninsei produces a hydrocarbon oil that is a ZERO sulphur direct replacement for crude oil.

Ninsei can be grown in open raceway ponds called SCOOPs that provide ideal growing conditions and allow the algae to be harvested and separated from the oil. The SCOOPs are typically 1 hectare in area and are grouped together into 20ha - 100ha units that can themselves be grouped together to form GroGasoline AlgaFarms of up to 2000ha.

The hydrocarbon oil, Ninsei BioCrude, can be readily harvested and the living algae returned to the SCOOPs to rapidly produce more oil. The Ninsei BioCrude can then be further refined in conventional oil refineries to produce renewable petroleum/gasoline, aviation fuel and diesel. The carbon dioxide released from the combustion of Minsei BioCrude derivatives is biogenic and therefore does not add to the net carbon dioxide levels in the atmosphere.
